I want to tell people who say “wow I’m so glad I don’t have little kids right now” to just fuck right off. I’m an “essential” employee and work with the public and part of my job is making small talk so I hear this about 100x a day. Great, you don’t have little kids. Wonderful. Happy for you. Being a working parent to elementary age children who are too young to be home alone is absolutely shitty right now and telling me how happy you are about not having them doesn’t help me at all. So if you don’t have solutions to the myriad of problems working parents are facing regarding school, childcare, healthcare, etc, sit down and shut the fuck up forever.
