I really like the idea, i would love to read something like this. The MC in the story would have a vastly different set of skills and opinion If he/she grew up where he/she knew danger could be lurking. Or he/she knew the ’riffraff’ of society.

For one they would be alot more suspicious and streetsmart. Often assume that when something sounds to good to be true, it is.

Perhaps MC comes back home after a period of time. Seeing that his/her home is now under the rule of a new ruthless streetgang. Trying with all their might to drive them out. Since police are hesitant to get involved they feel like they are on their own.

As for love interests

Ex-girl/boy friend: a love interest that mc dated back when they where younger, but the relationship ended when the Ex decided to join a gang. Causing a rift between them. Street savvy and easygoing the feelings you once had might rekindel.
