How important can real world settings be for immersion compared to inspired ones?

I think the wall a lot of YA high fantasy/dystopian authors hit is the way they describe the world from their characters perspective is unrealistic. Think about it, if you're writing 1st person narrative (as is typical for YA) the character is not going to describe the green sky for three paragraphs. Why would they? They sky has always been green to them. But the author thinks they need to describe it for the readers benefit and all of a sudden the world feels unreal because it seems unreal through the characters eyes.

In my story the planet has two moons. You knows this because it is mentioned once in chapter 12 of book two when she is staring at the moons. The world had two moons in book one as well but it wasn't relevant to the story and it wasn't relevent to the character because from her perspective the world has always had two moons. It's normal. It's all she's ever known. Why go out of her way to mention it as a point of interest?

If the world feels unreal to the character the reader sure as hell isn't going to buy the reality of it.
