How is John Dougall able to have his nickname on the ballot? It’s like a politics ad right in the voting booth.

I’m happy that Fox13 actually asked John Dougall about his nickname. However, it doesn’t really address the issue that the nickname has to do with the elected position he is in. It is not unrelated. The article refers to the “Super Dell” guy. That would be an issue if he was campaigning to be the governor’s IT guy. Or if Donovan Mitchell was seeking election as some kind of bug catcher.

It’s not about the fact of a nickname being on the ballot. It’s about it giving him a possible advantage with people who are unaware of the candidates. News Flash! Almost no one is up on the State Auditor race. So he has a clear advantage with the predominant fiscal conservative ideology in Utah. “Oh who should vote for for the money job? Oh yeah, the frugal one sounds perfect. Forget the other two entirely.”
