How do you like living in Winnipeg, honestly?

I have a theory with regards to the concept of whether a place is a good place to live in or not. If your most basic needs are met (an affordable place to live, access to food, clean water, not fearing for your life every day), the next most important thing is your social circle. If you have friends and/or family you get along with, great. Beyond that everything is superfluous. “Things to do” are all overrated. All the best times in my life have been with friends and family doing things we could do anywhere. Dinner, parties, etc. Cool shops, restaurants, climate, etc are all fairly irrelevant if you’ve got the aforementioned stuff, which I do.

So to actually answer your question, I like it. Beyond all the stuff I mentioned I’m a big music fan and enjoy going to see local live music and this city punches way above its weight in that department. Same with food/restaurants. The winters are too cold and too long, but like I said, really not a huge deal. You dress for it and you get used it.

My biggest complaint with this city is transit and the “not in my backyard”/general resistance to change within a significant portion of the population. Other than that I don’t have many complaints.
