How long until you get used to it?

Bought 49" 4K TV 3 years ago for 4K gaming (also for Youtube, Netflix and Prime Video etc, to replace my 5 year old LG FHD), cheaper Samsung with HDR support (not true HDR sadly but screen has good uniformity and quite good blacks) and HDR effect support, and was instantly hooked. Im still impressed (depending on quality of game, TV-show or movie) but its now near impossible for me watch standard content without HDR effect. Not big deal at first, but for a while you keep noticing that SDR hides some detail. Today Im looking to change my TV again, to true HDR TV with higher peak brightness (like IXI_Fans said, HDR is real deal here).

8K is probably future, but it requires even bigger screens than today and more processing power for gaming devices. Next gen consoles have 8K support, but I highly doubt they are capable to present something graphic heavy in native 8K. Maybe they just upscale.
