How many classes did you take first semester?

I took 5 courses + 2 labs.

Absolutely brutal LMAO but I earned nothing below a B. Now, I would never do it again. I think 5 courses + 1 lab would’ve been easier or maybe 4 courses + 2 labs.

When choosing courses, check what assignments they have. For one of my courses I only had in-class quizzes and 4 tests. For another I had only 4 tests. The test had a mc portion, short answer questions and a small essay portion which focused more on content rather than grammar(thank god). So only three classes had final exams! Woo!

I’m a Physics major and the rest of my courses were more mathematically inclined so it was pretty easy. I’d also taken AP in hs so i didn’t really dedicate too much time for MATH151 because a lot of it was review.

Pro tip: Study ahead!!! Seriously it will save you so much time. The pace is crazy fast cause you’ll literally a new concept each day and you only have 1-2 days to fully understand it. Even if you don’t understand it when you self study, when you learn it in class it’ll be easier to understand.

When choosing your courses ALWAYS check the assignments and you exams it has.

There’s some good advice here about how many courses depending on department, follow that.

However, I think 4 courses is more than manageable.
