How many of you feel or have felt insecure about glasses?

I urge you to look up the following characters:

Britta Perry from Community

Alex Vause from Orange is the New Black

Enid from Ghost World

Miranda Priestly from the Devil Wears Prada

These are the ones I thought of just off the top of my head in 2 minutes, but there's definitely more. They're female characters that are considered attractive just as they are, with glasses, and there's not the cliche "transformation" aspect that happens a lot in mainstream movies. I mean hell... Miranda Priestly is literally considered the height of fashion, and she wears glasses a ton!

But honestly I do agree with other comments that suggest this issue goes deeper than just glasses. I would respectfully suggest therapy. And another thing that helped me with body image is curating the media I consume so that I'm not watching things that send negative messages to myself. Like, for instance if I were you, I might try to avoid movies and TV that focus excessively on women's "ideal beauty" and steer clear of any makeover scenes. (I do realize bringing up the Devil Wears Prada is somewhat ironic lol, but I hold that that movie has a positive message overall!) Literally if I was watching something that I feel would bring up unnecessary insecurity, I would just turn it off and watch something else. There is plenty of good media out there that won't bring you down. :)
