How many golfers play 100% of their shots “as it lies”, and what are the actual acceptable (if any) occasions where you are able to adjust your ball before playing your shot?

See with my buddies(even playing for monies), who are just as good if not better than me, we have an agreement to not fuck up clubs on roots or rocks, if you're in a bunker footprint, or if you're in a fairway divot (muni prollems bruh) then you get to move it, but you gotta get buy in before you do.

If you're stymied, you cannot improve but if you're on rocks/roots you can play the same shot that you would from a place that doesn't have rocks/roots.

It's a mutual understanding between us after a decade of play and we police each other fairly harshly. But fucking up a club forever for a $10 skin.....nah...Fucking up a club for a $150 press.....now we're talking.
