How many of you grew up hearing "you will have plenty of time to play and do things you want when your older"

It's weird because I agree with the sentiment of antiwork in general but the crazy thing is you couldn't pay me any amount of money at all to be a child again. I remember saying when I was like 8 years old how I couldn't wait until all I had to do was work and go home and do what I wanted and not be constantly told about things I would have to do that were unpredictable and purposeless. Adulthood seeemed so much easier than public education. I'm in my mid twenties and I still feel the same way. I love that all of my responsibilities come about because I need things rather than because other people think I need them or should do them. I love that I get my free time to myself and noone encroaches on it. I get that it's not a reality for everyone but a 9-5 for me is astronomically better than the 5th grade. This isn't prowork it's just that I think we make childhood miserable to prepare people to work forever. So much so that it seems better.
