They had higher savings rate, more money on various experiences ( travelling etc), buys house(apt) first etc.

It was usually who makes less money, that buys luxuries and imported cars. If you save, you can afford one or two luxury bags in a year, more if you buy second hand.

For luxury car, there are lease, rents and second hand. Second hand value is at the bottom since it is easier for domestic makers to have after service, cheaper components etc. But if you like cars, you buy them.
