How much better or worse is your 30’s compared to your 20’s?

It is like comparing rotten apples to rotten oranges for me. I had a lot of fun in my 20s. I lived in philly for about five years, had much more success with women than I did before or after, but I turned into a full-blown alcoholic by the time I hit 30. Multiple arrests, jail time, very long license suspension, and to top it all off, I lost almost all of my savings due to my legal issues (about $30,000).

So I stopped drinking and things seemed to be getting better for me until I herniated a disk in my back. My doctor did not want to prescribe he anything besides a muscle relaxer and he said take ibuprofen. That didn’t help because at the time I was doing manual labor, so I started buying percs off the street. As the adage goes, I moved to heroin because it was cheaper. Now I am a heroin addict. I am in treatment now but IOP rehab can’t fix a herniated disc. I don’t know what to do. The pain is so severe at times that all I can do is lay on my back and hope it subsided. As far as I am aware, surgery is the only permanent fix for my disc and my insurance sucks. Fuck.
