My husband knew how picky I am and how thrifty I am and I would absolutely be unhappy if he spent too much on a ring and in a design I didn’t like.

We picked our engagement ring & wedding bands together. And I made sure to try the rings to find one that I can stand wearing on my finger forever (I don’t like thick rings). We made sure to make use of discount vouchers/credit card rebate and spent about 0.5 month salary on the rings. We spent many weekends shopping around and googling designs we like. The process was damn tiring but brought us closer together.

Then he planned the engagement surprise himself.

There’s plenty more ways to spend money thereafter. Don’t let the “once in a lifetime” tagline lure you into spending too much. You have to spend on wedding, housing, kids, etc.
