I don't think weight is the direct cause, no. However, for me it really LOOKED that way, because my high ICP and vision loss started after gaining weight somewhat quickly. When I was finally diagnosed, my neuro suggested that it was actually the lithium I was taking (which causes weight gain). My mother thought this was stupid and that it wouldn't work; that all I needed to do was lose the weight and it would go away. Against the neuro's advice, I stayed on Lithium for another year, became anorexic in a vain attempt to feel relief, lost 50 lbs way too fast, and still suffered. It wasn't until later, finally out of my mother's influence, that I talked to my doctor about stopping lithium. We did, and it worked! I'm not suggesting your situation is identical, of course, but sometimes things are a little more complicated than we might think.

In the end your body is your choice, and you should seek a treatment modality that is practical for your life, because you're the one that has to live it.
