How much public speaking is involved in your job?

Yep, that’s the daily stand up. It’s part of agile. It’s very common these days and even other disciplines are adopting it (such as sysadmin).

In theory it should become easier as you get into it. You can learn tools like Ngrok that allow you to show your working code right out of your dev environment instead of breaking it by porting it to some demo environment. And you’ll get better at prepping your desktop for sharing by doing things like shutting off notifications and learning how to share just a single app instead of your entire desktop. Things like that.

And it can be fun depending on your company culture. Some of our guys put together little funny movie clips and show them in their presentation to make it funny. Your culture may vary.

You could search for a job that doesn’t do standups but it’s pretty standard these days so you may as well get used to it.
