Been riding 5 years.

• Helmets: 6. 2 road helmets (main one and older one that I keep as spare), 1 track helmet, 1 dirt helmet, 2 wrecked helmets that I keep for sentimental value.

• Jackets: 2. Main one, nice and waterproof with removable liners, and my old cheap one that I keep as spare.

• Pants: 2. Same as jackets, one nice one and one old one for a spare.

• Boots: 4 pairs. Road ones, nice race ones for big bikes on big tracks, knackered old race ones for bucket bikes on go kart tracks, and dirt ones.

• Gloves: 5 pairs. Road ones, nice race ones, knackered old race ones (same reason as the boots), dirt ones, and a pair of cheap nasty ones I wore like 3 times and hated but can't bring myself to throw out for some reason.

• Leathers: 2. Again, nice race ones for big bikes and ratty old ones for bucket racing.

All up I've probably spent around $5k NZD on my kit, the vast majority of that on helmets and leathers. It could be a lot worse but I tend to buy midrange gear that's good but not super nice and super expensive top tier stuff.
