How much support does Donald Trump actually have from the Republican party?

The reason people have a hard time putting him on a Left/Right scale is because he doesn't know what he's talking about and doesn't have a coherent political philosophy.

He wants the government to continue to spend money on entitlements but doesn't want to spend any federal money building "the wall". He supports restricting gun sales to those on the terrorist watch list, but also thinks there should be a totally unrestricted healthcare market. He wants to appeal obamacare but supports medicare. He wants to abolish the federal minimum wage, but wants to empower a federal immigration deportation force.

These are mostly ideologically contradictory positions. It's the reason most Republicans agree on most things, because they try to keep ideologically consistent. For example, if you believe in a free market, you don't believe in restricting gun sales but you do believe in an unregulated health care market. If you believe in a small government, you dont want the federal government spending money on infrastructure projects but you also don't like entitlements for the same reason.

But he just doesn't give a shit, so none of his positions make any sense when compared to each other.
