US engineer. 25 years old. I get 17.5 days of PTO (basically a scam that lumps vacation and sick time in one pool).

At my old job I had 17-18 days depending on floating holidays and a separate generous sick time pool that was for all intents and purposes unlimited. But in 3 years I only used 2 sick days. Meanwhile the vacation time was "use it or lose it" which always had me burning vacation time in December for no reason. My current job let's me carry 100% of my sick time into new years, but you can't have more than 17.5 days pooled at once.

This basically means that in theory I could use 7 weeks of vacation in a single year if I came into January 1 with max vacation.

Shitty compared to a lot of people, but decent by American standards.
