How much wealthier would you be?

It's not even possible for most things. "wealth" is a theoretical concept based on the value of things you owned determined by the price at which others are willing to pay.

Houses in San Francisco cost $900,000 regularly. So how do you distribute that $900,000? You can't. Someone has to get that house because you can't chop it up and ship pieces of it to India's impoverished. The mere act of living in SF would already make you unequal because of its location and you can't distribute the physical location of SF.

It gets even stupider for other assets. Imagine breaking up Amazon and distributing the stocks equally to millions of people. Okay great, now you own Amazon along with your 400,000 business partners, half of whom you'll never meet and don't even have internet. Do you think your stock is still worth the same? Not a chance. You gained wealth and lost 99% of it within seconds.

It's not a bad idea. It's literally not even possible.
