MS fucking sucks. My dad 56 has it and has also been out of work for 10 years also. For those 10 years I have hated his guts. He thinks he is the most innocent person on the planet and thinks my mom hates his guts and argues with her over everything every night such as not telling him AC broke again the moment she found out.
He is mentally in a rut and the most stubborn human on the planet, completely addicted to ancestry.com and findagrave.com. He also has vision problems. The bottom part of his eyesight is a massive blindspot and he has glaucoma. And yet he has insisted on taking 12 hour roadtrips to New York and southern Florida regularly.
He bought a patch of land in Rochester that is connected to no road. He got his car stuck in the mud there and lost his glasses as the same time. He had to have an army of emergency responders find him in the woods and find his glasses for him and he then got $1,000 worth of lumber shipped to his truck to get it out of the mud. He then built a cement slab for his tent in the property. He has lost all common sense and no longer knows the value of a dollar.
My mom is secretly divorcing him finally now that she has sobered up after having 2 near death experiences while deep into being an alcoholic after years which was a direct result of my father's MS. Both his spending habits and her alcohol problem has put them into a lot of debt. My dad's can't handle finances and wants to see them, so his method of rebellion is to spend irresponsibly until she shows him the finances.
We tried to force her into rehab. My dad actually went to court and asked for her to be forced into rehab after her second hospitalization but they ignored him given his obvious mental state. (me and my siblings were all moved out by then).
The summary of all this is that MS sucks and the government is no help.
