How to not feel as terrible about people leaving?

People are joining the church as well. Think of it like the ocean waves or the tides. It is a constant cycle of in and out. This isn't a bad thing, I think it is a good thing. It keeps the church vibrant.

We all need to exercise our agency. Give things a try. Don't be too fearful of making the "wrong" choice. That is why we were put on earth to try things out with the option and time to fix things. The veil of mortality, agency, and the atonement all work together to give us the ability to try new things until we learn for ourselves who we are and where we belong.

When people join or return welcome them with open arms. When they leave treat them with love and respect and openness. Those who are searching will find what works for them. Those who let their fear control them may remain, but will never be as strong as someone who really learned the church was true for themselves. (I am not suggesting that leaving is necessary to do this, but openness to your own concerns, thoughts, and ideas is necessary).
