How often have you been involved with someone and later realized loneliness was the only factor that caused you to pursue that person?

Every time I've downloaded a dating app, it was because of loneliness.

My younger brother asked me something similar recently. He's been struggling away at uni.

I'll share what I told him. To be truly peaceful is to be okay with being alone.

This DOES NOT mean that I am promoting isolation. I am saying that if you don't enjoy being alone, you will allow anyone who comes your way to take you off your path because they will give you attention. When you are comfortable being alone, that means you have standards, and you will not just accept any change to your lifestyle. It means that you respect yourself.

You have to be proud that you are your own best friend. You may have other friends for sports, some like comic books and you ride motorcycles with others. But you are the only one who will put you first every time, that doesn't make other people bad it just makes them human.

Proudly hold your head high, focus on your hobbies/interests, and consider what this random guy on reddit said.
