How old are you and how much money do you have in your savings account?

You definitely have a point there re. school budget inflation. But you got some facts pretty wrong. It is certainly not the case that every (or even close to every) professor makes $150k+, especially these days. Adjunct professors, which are most, get paid by the course and often make <$30k/yr. Even full-time tenured professors rarely make big salaries. While there ARE certainly over-paid teaching profs at higher levels in the hierarchy (dept. chairs, college heads, etc), that not the norm. There are MANY benefits to a career in academia, but high pay is rarely one of them.

And while your number for college sports coach might be accurate in the general sense (average of all coaches etc), the high-end of that spectrum is dazzling. Successful football coaches at major schools make BANK. When I attended the US Air Force Academy, our football coach (Fisher Deberry) ws the highest paid employee in the entire Dept. of Defense. The 4-star general Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, commands the entirety of the US military and has hundreds of nuclear weapons at his disposal with a second's notice, got paid less than the football coach at one fo the military academies.
