How to get over the toxic ex who hurt you, and find happiness (whatever that means to you)

The explanation that helped me was that any way that emotions affect your body physically is referred to as 'stress' from headache to upset stomach. And of course everyone understands too much stress or too long burden wears your body down. It will also bring depression, anxiety, reckless, addiction....blahblah. Naturally everyone learns their own way to cope with the emotions and stress process it. If the coping mechanism isn't working fast enough or absent they could be suffering from a million kinds of disorder. No one develops "perfect" methods alone first try. So in the event of trauma, sudden change, over burdening or confusion. that can cause problems that lead to depression, anxiety....

Therapist will assess your issues, coping mechanisms/techniques and teach you to redefine/train them.

And yes inside the process the first thing you do is identify, type...grief, perfection pressure, distortion, truth, false.... Everything else is logic like you said. 'Goals' are a coping technique.

I would have NEVER thought therapy was for me. But it was interesting and I learned a lot in the sessions. Most of it was Ahhhh of course... moments as soon as he says it he's right and a few times I would use a coping tech. as a blanket for alllll of these. Then you're driving a nail with a sledgehammer

I might go after every bu
