How patients expect me to respond when they tell me about how high their pain tolerance is

Considering my response was to the person dismissing those with a high level of pain tolerance, and not to your comment of pain rating being subjective (which I did not see, nor read) I would say your response was completely out of context.

Also, my statement that my level of pain with a broken arm may be low, compared to someone who may rate that level of pain very high, may be evidence that I am aware of the subjectiveness of pain rating.

My complete point was dont be that douche nurse who dismisses those who state they have a high pain tolerance as seekers. As I took aleve for my broken arm, while I waited for 13 days to see a good ortho.
