How do people manage to do so much with their life, to make progress, improve themselves and their situations? My day is filled just taking care of the bare minimum.

In all seriousness, that's the main reason I don't eat dinner at home. People say how expensive it is to eat out, but go and calculate the amout of time needed for that. You need to go out to the store to buy all the stuff, fill the fridge, then you gotta cook all of it, eat, and then clean up. Eating out is more expensive, but I see it as me buying time... a lot of time and convenience. I can eat what ever I want every day (and don't need to figure it out a week in advance), I can go out and meet people, or go out with friends.

ALso, "doing laundry"... how much time does that take? I literally throw the stuff in the laundry before going out, and then hang it up in 5 minutes when I'm back home.

Out of all the stuff you listed the big one is having a dog. That's a lot of time and responsibility.
