I think it's hard to break away from some bands like that. For example, if you've ever tried diving into the black metal genre, NOT listening to Burzum and/or knowing that they have nazi sympathies off the bat is difficult or was difficult in the past. So during your formative taste years you grow attached to some of these guys and obviously you didn't know because you can't fucking understand a word of the lyrics.

Then long down the road you find out that one of the members does some nazi shit. Damn. Your favorite band that got you into a monster genre is now shitty even if it's just one dude's personal political views. Then again, Burzum was a one man band.

So now you're faced with this dilema. Separate the art from the artist and continue to read HP Lovecraft, Hemingway, Burroughs, listen to Slayer, Burzum, drive a Ford, Volkswagen, continue watching Weinstein movies, etc. OOOOORRRR only listen to Vegan Reich, watch independent youtube docus, and bike your ass everywhere.
