How do you read Light Novels with official English translation?

As I choose most of my books based upon recommendations or an adaptation, I usually tend to buy the books, especially if I'm expecting to enjoy them a lot based on what I know.

However, I also often check out rips of books that I'm planning on buying or that I've already bought but the delivery hasn't arrived yet (BookDepository deliveries tend to take like two weeks or more for me, a time during which I can easily start and finish multiple volumes if I'm hooked enough).

At this time, I own physical copies at least up to the point I've read or all available volumes, whichever is smaller, for all the series I'm actively reading that have official, physical releases—with the singular exception of Spice & Wolf, mainly because I only read like a few pages once every sometimes, then forget about it again for half a year; although I've been planning to get copies for a while now.

For titles without physical releases, I have at least one digital volume (the one I'm reading or last read), but sometimes not all of them as—unlike with physicals—I don't really like buying digital releases for books I've already read, whether fan TL or rip. Buying digital books simply for the sake of collecting, clearly not intending to read them in the near future, just feels kinda... dunno, weird to me. With physicals, I can have them as shelf decoration and to show off (rarely to anyone but myself, but whatevs). That kinda "vibe" is just not there imo for digital books.

Honestly, I know that not supporting publishers damages the medium and I try to do that where I can, but budget concerns are a big reason why I tend to not buy digital releases retroactively. I do hope I can change that in the future.
