How sound is the agreement between the City and the Tsuu T'ina for the SW ring road land ?

I don’t know if Tsuu T’ina has hereditary chiefs or not, and how they relate to elected councils. One thing to note though is The Tsuu T’ina are a part of treaty 7 where as much of BC First Nations do not have any treaties with the Federal Government (hence the many unceeded land claims).

There are a few things about the Ring road deal. The Tsuu T’ina gained several times more land then they gave up for the project, as well as quite a bit of money. They also gain exits from Stoney Trail onto their land, where they will be building retail (like the new Costco). There is also a had completion date, where if the road is not completed by a certain date, the land is given back to the band (would be a major project screw up if this happened).
