How to spend a month in Europe before studying abroad in Budapest?

I can deeeeeefinitely help you with this.

I used to live in Budapest in 2017. After taking a job at a private school in February I moved over and in April I was made redundant.

It was kinda shitty cos I am god awful with money and spent my savings (also my phone and laptop broke within a week so that cost hundreds) before the beginning of the summer holidays, so I had no choice but to go cheap.

I travelled in mid-July to Thessaloniki from Budalest for €30, stayed in an incredible air b&b with an amazing host, then went up north to the Balkans.

I took the train to Skopje where I spent a few nights, then headed over to Montenegro via Kosovo & Albania, spent the night in Podgorica (skip it, it's boring) and then a few more nights in Cetinje (by far my favourite place) and finally Kotor. Then I headed over (bus again) to Bosnia, Mostar and Sarajevo. Sarajevo is a place that everyone must visit in their life. Such a special city. I flew back to Budapest for €11.

I was gone for approx 4 weeks. I don't remember too well now. What I do remember is EVERYTHING WAS DIRT CHEAP. Macedonia especially.

Accommodation was approx €14 per night, give or take a few euros, and the daily spend was around €10-25 depending on what I was doing. The most I ever spent was in Sarajevo when I decided to get a tattoo (around €30 btw).

This place is full to the brim of history, landscapes and culture. The people are incredibly hospitable and warm and this still remains one of my favourite trips I've ever been on.

Hope this helps, my dude.
