How do you start a racist joke?

goes directly against what this nation was founded on.

What version of American history are you referencing? Because, I'm pretty sure colonials came here looking for gold. They nearly killed off the remainder of a nation of people who'd been ravaged by disease. Then, the new American citizens decided to stop paying taxes to their mother country, defect, fight, and start making their own laws, based on those of the aforementioned dead society. Don't kid yourself into believing that what is written on the Statue of Liberty (which came from France, BTW), is what our wonderful government was founded on. They were taking in "refugees" as a means to an end (more soldiers! more workers!), not out of the goodness of their hearts. Thieves and rapists are found in abundance in the wealthiest, whitest areas, too, so I don't think that particular statement (of Trump's) holds much merit. It's not racist at all to try to protect your country from an outside threat, be it perceived or factual. In this case, it is absolutely a real threat, and if you don't believe that, you need to pay more attention.

As to your second point, some of it is certainly valid. Equally valid is the fact that I live in a neighborhood that is now filling up with people of Mexican descent, and now have several neighbors that are drug dealers and regularly see cops on domestic calls. I've lived in this area my whole life, and it was not like this ten, maybe even five, years ago. Again, it's not just Mexicans. The standard of human existence is simultaneously deteriorating and reaching new heights for every race, color, and creed. The gap is growing larger every day.
