Personally I dislike preorders and buying microtransactions because it encourages bad trends.

I've always had a hard time with this logic because shouldn't this viewpoint vary from company to company? (Not microtransactions, fuck those, unless they're maybe just cosmetic.)

Like, a company who's goal is to put out a quality product is still going to, despite pre-ordering.

I just dislike this trend of refusing all pre-orders from every company. It can be a great way to financially support up-and-coming developers (or just any developer that you like), and I think that alone means there's room for nuance in this discussion.

Can that be abused by any company? Absolutely, but I think pre-orders are actually a great litmus test to see if developers still care about their fan-base.
