How do you stop comparing your life to others and stop the cycle of envious, bitterness, and jealousy?

Stop and think about what you actually want as opposedtowhat you think everyone wants. I realized years ago that, despite having better education, I will never earn as much as my parents.

At first that made me feel sad and inadequate - if I don't at least keep up with their standard of life, is my life even successful? But then I realized that I don't actually want any of the things they spend money on. I don't need a big house (too much work) or a fancy car (I don't care about cars) or big ass cruise vacations (either boring or full of drunk party folks).

My income suits my lifestyle.

So what do you envy? Money? Do you need that much? Popularity? Do you even like these people? A career? Would you ever really want that job?

Be honest with yourself. You know reality is never like that idealized version you've built up in your head.
