How to Talk about Homosexuality: 6 Things Every Straight Christian Should Know

1 Corinthians 5:12-13New International Version (NIV)

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.

First off, I'm not saying expel homosexuals. I think the last verse is speaking about sinful nature in general.

I think Christians get a bad rap from blasting everyone that does anything wrong ever. Rightly so. It is not our job to judge an atheist or any non believer. What good does it do? The only thing it does is turn that person away. No one wants to hear about their faults or be judged.

However, I do think it is our place to work on our church. I hate that homosexuality is at the forefront of social issues at the moment. It is a sin and is the same as adultery of a husband and wife. Which honestly is a much greater problem in my opinion, but is not talked about. Same with every sin. Porn is another major one, but it is rarely talked about. You can go on and on about social issues all day. Homosexuality has turned into this monster of a sin that is the biggest evil anyone can do. It needs to be discussed but on a case to case basis.

Also, love your neighbor means exactly what is says and that's all. It does not mean if I go on a killing spree that it should be accepted and I should be treated with love for my actions. You can still love and correct at the same time. Any parent knows that.

The ultimate judge as we all know will be at the end of days. We will all have to answer for our choices on this earth. I'm sure we will all be wrong about a lot of things. I think this is why Jesus explained it so simply. Love your neighbor as yourself and follow God faithfully. Love conquers all. At the end of days, I want to face God and hope that I was able to live my life by making other's lives better instead of ostricizing them for their faults and choices. If we love first and then react, the following actions will be simple.
