How uncommon is it for Socios/ASPD's to have empathy for animals?

late to the thread but

as a child/teenager i used to torture and kill animals despite also loving them. when i got older and after time in therapy i suddenly developed... an overcompensation of empathy once i became disgusted with what I had done in the past, all at once, and ever since then i've become hyper sensitive to animal abuse that it gives me anxiety to even see an obese cat. i refuse to keep a pet unless i can give it 110%.

my therapist has said this is relatively common. especially for those on the autism spectrum. and if you start to develop empathy via treatment people with aspd often go into overcompensation to a point of ocd. also that aspd with autism tend to relate to animals better in general. they don't lie to you, they don't judge you, they are something easily understood.

but people's experience with empathy varies. aspd is an empathy disorder, it's not a cookie-cut thing. some people have no empathy for animals, all empathy for animals, or had a mixture like myself for a while.
