That's not true; this is where the divide between the traditional GOP and the rest of the base comes in. A lot of Republican voters are in it for economics, a lot are in it for nationalism. A lot are in it for religious conservatism, yes, but they aren't by any means a supermajority or anything. Polls show that anywhere from 40-50% of Republican voters support some form of abortion.

Put it this way - there are a lot of callous moneygrubers who vote Republican because they never expect their social platform to actually be enacted, and there are a lot of fascists who vote Republican because they're American nationalists, don't care about the religious social issues/conservatism, and if anything want Roe kept because contraception and abortions keep the poor black and latino population down.

It will not energize Republicans to anywhere near the extent it will Democrats, and if solving the issue can be attached to voting D midterm, the Biden-non Trump D-R swingvoters in the suburbs etc will have a much easier time making up their mind.
