Medium worried. Several factors at play here:
Election is a year away. That's a year to bribe people and try to save face.
NPA is equally corporatist and not for the average Vancouverite. However, most Vancouverites don't know this, or don't care.
OneCity has some real momentum and just got their first candidate in. They have all but completely replaced COPE as the progressive party in Vancouver. They put forward a good candidates, but their organization skills still leave a lot to be desired. I asked to volunteer, asked for signs, offered free time and labour, and they didn't even have the organization to allow me to work for them for free
Vision is incumbent and can use their work as an advertisement.
People are afraid of change. People are also afraid of the increasingly problematic status quo.
I think that Vision should take this byelection as a clear omen that their days are numbered if they keep dancing the same dance, but I don't think we can write them off quite yet.
