How would you book ROH in 2023?

I’d keep feeling them separate, but similar to the relationship with NJPW — the forbidden door is always open. But it should feel significant when someone shows up at one, or the other — building to a PPV match, or only once every couple of months.

Going off what Kenny said about Dynamite being “a variety show,” ROH would be intentionally specific and more niche. A deep focus on technical wrestling, code of honor and the “sports based” wrestling that AEW has moved further and further away from the last year and half or so.

90 min weekly. 2-3 men’s matches, 1-2 women’s matches and 1-2 promos. TV titles would be the only active ones I’d lose (sorry Joe). It’s antiquated belt type IMO. World, Pure, Tag, and Women’s World belts.

My initial roster would be Men’s: Bryan Danielson, Kyle O’rielly, Wheeler Yuta, Lee Moriarty, Matt Sydel, Miro, Samoa Joe, the butcher & the blade, Daniel Garcia, Bandido, Jay Lethal, Claudio, Briscoes & FTR. (Maybe 2.0 as well, if we need another tag team to do the J.O.B.) Women’s: Mercedes Martinez, Serena Deeb, Thunder Rosa, Ruby Soho, Ana Jay, Marina Shafir, & Athena. Again, a wrestlers/tag team can crash Dynamite to build towards a big match or PPV, but not weekly, and not an open door.

I’d launch with the build towards Danielson vs. Jericho in a lower leaves town match. Danielson takes the belt and Jericho is now permanently banned from ROH. (Bye Y2J). Danielson is the gatekeeper of ROH for his reign. Make the title & his final run mean something. Danielson embodies everything ROH should be, so whoever eventually takes the belt is effectively being passed the torch. Garcia starts with the Pure title. Moriarty, Wheeler, and O’Reilly are in pursuit. Moriarty takes it off him eventually, so we can continue Garcia vs Wheeler’s fued away from the belt. Heel Joe vs Miro in a non title rubber match fued (we need some fire promos and they ain’t coming from wheeler & garcia just yet).

Last thing — Keep it in one location like TNA, or NXT. Intimate crowd & taped. Give it a specific look and feel like Lucha Underground. And little to no backstage shenanigans.
