How would you describe a disassembled gun?

What kind of gun?

IRL an M16 that is taken apart would be pretty noticeable as a disassembled gun. I think most guns would be pretty noticeable.

"You find a long, hollow cylinder with groves down its center. Nearby is an adjacent part that would fit firmly in your hand. Some sort of grip apparatus. It also has a backing that appears to fit snugly with your shoulder. There appear to be quite a few interlocking and moving apparatus that would fit inside the 'handle'. You also find an oddly shaped rectangle that would fit inside the bottom of the 'handle'. One end of the rectangle is a hollow opening. There is a spring like mechanism inside this weird rectangle. The spring pushes towards the opening from the bottom in an odd fashion."

I think even people without a solid knowledge of a gun would be able to figure it out pretty quick.
