How would you feel about having a mandatory class in high school that teaches about budgeting, handling or avoiding debt, making good investments, signing important documents, job interviews, and other important adult life skills?

We had a class like this my Junior year. I payed attention to the class and fortunately it helped me with a lot of hard financial choices. The sad part was that I live in a very wealthy town. As a result a lot of kids didn’t pay attention, the daddy will pay for everything mentality type of kids. One day when our teacher was taking about credit card debt a girl said, “So credit card debt is like when my dad shuts off my card cause I passed my 3k limit”. My teacher politely said,” No, it’s not. This is because you as a result of your parents hard work will probably never have to care about credit card debt, or having to work an honest day in your life. The unfortunate fact that if people normally spend three thousand dollars in one month they will get into trouble with the banks, have all of their property taken, and still probably will have to live paycheck to paycheck trying to pay back the banks. Now if you wish to be a hardworking person and wish to understand how to protect yourself financially and not just ask your “daddy”(imagine super whiny girl voice, cause that’s what he used) for money please continue to listen maybe you’ll actually learn something for once in your life.” I know this isn’t related to the question but it just goes to show some people don’t understand how hard people work to retire and successfully live a happy life. Also that girls parents did cut her off after developing a cocaine problem. Apparently, she’s been disowned and removed from her parents’ will.

Sorry for any typing errors I’m on my phone right now.
