If you see my other comments, you will see that I generally agree with the points being made here. However, I do want to explore this a bit and ask some questions.
What do yall make of the argument that the reason sex work should be legal is because it is simply too difficult to enforce a law against it. Enforcement itself would have negative consequences on many (but not only) the worst off in our society, both male and especially female, due to the intrusive and tyrannic needs of enforcement.
This same argument is one of the few I find convincing when it comes to abortion. I find abortion to be clearly unethical, and most people who argue in favor of it purposefully frame the issue incorrectly so they can win a fake argument. One of my friends laid this argument out, that it is too difficult and intrusive to turn the clock back and make it illegal. Are we REALLY going to investigate claims of rape all over, with all the extreme and tyrannical needs of enforcement.
I don't know how well it applies in this case, but it's certainly an argument worth considering, even if I find sex work abhorrent. I'm not sure I trust any government institution enough to let it investigate these kind of things, I would expect an enormous amount of abuse in many forms.
