How do we get younger people involved in watching and playing baseball, so that they become lifelong fans?

I don't think fans want to see fights

I don't think people want fights to happen but I think they're captivated by them when they do. Benches clearing brawls/incidents, no matter how silly or potentially dangerous they might be, always drive a metric buttload of engagement. It creates drama and feuds where there realistically shouldn't be any (Mets/Cardinals last year as an example).

I'm not saying they should be more prevalent or anything. It's also not some magic long term fix for interest. It's just one of those sideshows that I think MLB is willing to keep around in some capacity because people are highkey into that sort of thing.

With that said, I think shouting matches could be just as effective in spurning drama (see: Muncy vs Bumgarner) and wouldn't be upset if there was never another physical altercation on the field. But there's something to the absurdity of Amir Garrett fighting an entire dugout that people just really love.
