How do you make your car insurance cheap?

I like to change insurance companies every couple of years. I was with State Farm since I got my license and it never really crossed my mind to look elsewhere. One day I decided to get a quote from Geico and the same level of coverage with the same deductibles, an identical policy, 40 percent cheaper, I was blown away, I could save like $600 per year. I called State Farm and told them about this cheaper quote and they literally told me they already had me as low as they could go, so I said screw it and went with Geico. A couple of years go by and as car insurance tends to do the rate started to creep back up. State Farm calls me out of the blue and offers me a quote that's cheaper than what Geico is now charging me, plus offered to lower my homeowners deductible like 80% so back to State Farm I went. Don't be afraid to shop around for the best rate, but I'd probably stick to the larger more reputable companies.
