Howard gripes about podcasts

all he wonders is how they're monetized. most aren't. there's no network paying you a podcasting contract except in a very few cases (some of whom he mentioned by name today). he is skeptical of youtube-style content monetization is all - or at least it's permanence.

whereas a media company paying a famous person to do a talk show or talk radio is a long standing business model. he explicitly said "he likes a paycheck". meaning, there's a corporation paying him and with the ability to pay him (and his staff ostensibly).

now one can debate if that business model is long for this world but that's not his point. he is saying, as a famous person, he prefers it. Let Joe Rogan forge the podcast business model, Howard's at retirement age.
