Huawei Executive’s Life in Detention Seems Luxurious to Some Canadians

No shit. Her family has a net worth in the billions of USD and she owns 2 expensive properties in Vancouver and paid $10 million bail to stay at one of those properties while being granted the freedom to roam most of Vancouver while wearing an ankle GPS monitor.

Why does her living situation sound like such a surprise every time this is brought up twice a week given her wealthy background and Canada's policies surrounding bail agreements?

Obviously, every time this story is rewritten, her luxurious living situation while under detainment is contrasted to the poorer conditions of the 2 Canadians being held abroad without bail. Everyone here is calling it unfair and that she should be thrown in a jail cell like those Canadians in China, but if we stooped to draconian eye-for-and-eye tactics every time for these cases, then we'd be throwing our Canadian laws aside for petty revenge.

Rather than complain about her legal bail conditions multiple times a week, we should just let the Canadian judicial process take its course and leave the negotiations for the freedom of those detained Canadians to our government, as these rants accomplish little than to circlejerk around something most of us here already agree on in the contrast of the detentions of Meng and the 2 Canadians.
