The Hugbox Effect

Most people here are who they purport to be. Even if subconsciously, and subtly different from real life.

That's not quite making your case though. The internet can be a scary place. Like a modern day Wild West of sorts. You can keep saying all this, but it doesn't change the fact that the door is wide open for any old jackass to come in and pretend to be someone they're not in order to get their kicks or to genuinely harm someone for whatever reason. You have no ground to make the claim that "most people here are who they purport to be" because you can't back that claim up unless you've actually met with or have personally seen most of the 11k people here. It's not about assuming everyone is fake, spinning it that was is just disingenuous and sounds like you're trying to jockey for a better position with your argument. The fact is that the internet is wide open and anyone can pretend to be anyone else. You don't have to go around assuming everyone is fake, but you do have to go around realizing that the possibility is there.
