I’m related to the lady that breeds these animals and while I have to say that they generally seem to receive excellent care, a disturbing number of family pets have died. One was left in a car and not discovered until days later, one was backed over, another drowned in a pool, and at least one was hit by a car. I only mention the one hit by a car because her defense was “We can’t fence in 1600 acres (or whatever the number was)” I agree, you can’t fence in your whole ranch, but you also can’t let your dogs roam in an unsafe area. You can fence a portion of your palatial ranch and only let them go there. OH! And also: her main point was that the driver wasn’t upset enough about how he hit her $2,500 dog. Not that the fucking dog died, but that he didn’t recognize the monetary worth of the animal. TLDR: not a puppy mill, but I don’t think she should be breeding puppies.
