I was addressing YOU and what YOU said. You kept trying to steer it away.

You said that there’s no problem in what they are saying because they are being systematically oppressed and the group they are criticizing aren’t.

My argument to you was, hate speech, if left unchecked, will turn into a problem eventually. The more they normalize it amongst themselves, the more normal it would be to hate a particular group. That hate, eventually, would escalate to justified (in their minds, they are the enemy after all) violence towards them.

It’s happened to blacks, it’s happened to gays, it’s happened to Muslims, it happens every time people are allowed to freely hate another group openly.

Hate speech isn’t illegal in a strict sense but if your words incite a riot or any type of violence, you’re going to be punished and it’s considered a hate crime regardless of assault on your part. Think school shooters on social media. Say anything that hints to violence and the feds will be at your door.

I’m not arguing for hate speech being criminalized. I’m for the first amendment. I’m just explaining how it is, currently, and if we’re going to enforce one side, we should be enforcing the other side as well. Either we agree all of it is ok or none of it. I took issue with you saying it’s not a problem when they do it.
