Something similar happened to my husband with a bird feeder. A super cute and little brown bird loved to visit our feeder. But then one day, the bird came and took a few bites then as it flew the 20 feet to the tree it lives in a large hawk came down out of nowhere and grabbed it! My poor husband was so upset he considered taking down the feeder. He said he just wanted to feed the cute birds and now he feels like a murderer.
But being the ever supportive spouse that I am I reassured him and told him to keep it up cause either way he is still feeding the birds..... just maybe not exactly how he envisioned. We still have the feeder and nothing like that has happened since.
