Hunting/Fishing?

Fishing is actually pretty good at any metro lake. The lakes right in the city are often where you have the best luck.

The choice is basically if you want to fish with a bunch of other folks around, or get away on a boat. But in the summer, any good fishing lake in the whole state is going to be busy.

I'm not sure what lodes is on about. But unfortunately all fish contain contaminants these days and fish from MN lakes are no exception. It is generally advised that if you're fishing to eat, you want to keep the small ones. I have not heard any reports that city lakes are any worse than any other lake. If anything city lakes seem like they would be less polluted as they wouldn't contain ag runoff.

The DNR fishing website is very good and gives info on all the lakes and fish stocks.

I have not been hunting in decades but IMO the nicest place to do it is in southeastern MN and western WI. It depends on if your goal is to get out in the woods or to take something home. If it is the latter probably the easiest thing is to just go to one of the farms that specialize in this. Its not very sporting IMO but you will get a duck if that's your goal.
